Good morning guys,
Well we finally managed to get the club championships complete after a week’s delay due to weather issues. The Senior championship was a race to see who would blow up the least on the last few holes. Snowball (Pat Santora) was the ultimate winner by one stroke over Jax Bob and Linebacker Bennett. Big Dog came in two strokes back on the strength of three over on the last two holes. Snowball played steady with a two day score of 167. Jax Bob and Linebacker Bennett finished at 168 and Big Dog finished at 169. The heartbreak award had to go to Jax Bob when he had a 3 shot lead going into 18. The hazard in front of the green got him twice and he finished the hole with a 9. I think that everyone had some of those blow up holes that in the Men’s group would only count as a zero. I know that I had a 5 putt 8 on hole 4 and some triple bogeys on other holes. Oh well that is tournament play. Three of our guys played in the Super Senior division with Used Car Tony taking home honors. Moose Man and Original Lefty held their own but ultimately could not hang with the fast talking youngster. The club championship went to Marvin Davenport. I do not know him but he did shoot a 2 under par 70 on the second day. I had been told that he was a really good player. We were represented well with Young Lefty taking home low Net honors. I think that he has graduated to the Gold tees for next year. It goes to show that practice does help our games. Maybe we all can take home a lesson from Young Lefty’s accomplishments. We had another of our members make an eagle two on hole 13 when Paul Mooney jarred it from the top of the hill. You could hear the whoops all over the back nine. Congratulations Paul.
With the all of the challenges, the tournament was very successful. We will work on getting it scheduled well in advance for next year and hope to have even more participation. This past year has been one of transition at Mountain Harbour with the changes in POA board members, general managers and new employees at the front desk and cart area. We are seeing the improvement in the conditions of the course and hopefully next season we will have the grill open. I think that with your continued support Mountain Harbour can again approach its glory days of yesteryear.
Thanks to everyone for their support of the course and the Men’s League.
Big Dog Wayne
